TAGBILARAN City marked the official turnover of its first Surveillance Speed Boat at the K of C Promenade in Barangay Poblacion II on February 26, 2024.

This strategic addition to the city’s water assets is poised to fortify maritime surveillance and monitoring activities within the city’s jurisdiction.

The state-of-the-art speed boat, dedicated to the surveillance and monitoring team of the City Agriculture and Veterinary Office, will play a pivotal role in regulating local waters and combating illegal fishing practices.

Its swift maneuverability is tailored for the efficient apprehension of violators, ensuring the sustainable use of marine resources.

Mayor Jane Yap, a fervent advocate for marine conservation, led the ceremony and delivered an inspirational message emphasizing the importance of this water asset in upholding maritime security.

“This speed boat represents our commitment to safeguarding our coastal resources. It empowers our surveillance team to enforce regulations effectively and contributes to the overall protection of our marine ecosystem,” Mayor Yap stated.

Dr. Genette Mae Egos-Yap, City Agriculture and Veterinary Officer, received the speed boat on behalf of the surveillance and monitoring team.

The ceremony was attended by key figures instrumental in the realization of this initiative, including Chief of Staff John Geesnell “Baba” Yap II; Hon. Eliezer Borja, Chairperson of the SP Committee on Peace, Public Order, and Safety; Hon.
