Not until two years after . . . .

GOOD news!

This is for all Boholanos, whether sports-loving or not.

The Bohol Schools Athletic Association (BSAA) is planning to widen the activities of the organization.

From the original activity of only one athletic game for every school year, this time BSAA will conduct this year a Second Conference in Basketball and Volleyball Games. This is to be participated in by the same members of the athletic association.

Originally, BSAA was composed of only four Basketball Teams (Men and Women) and Volleyball Teams (Men and Women) from the University of Bohol, Holy Name University, PMI Colleges, and BIT International College during its first year of competition.

But two years before the pandemic, the athletic association increased in number with the participation of Mater Dei College of Tubigon, Bohol Northeastern College of Ubay, Trinidad Municipal College, Cristal E-College of Dauis, and Tagbilaran City College.

In the junior division of the sports events, the same has also increased tremendously. It is now participated in by many secondary schools in the province.

As planned, the new sports event will commence in the middle of the second semester of this school year and to end this summer term of 2023.

This was the main subject matter of the board meeting last week conducted by Dr. Ryan Tirol, its president.

Although the plan is still on the drawing table of the sports organization, it was the consensus of the group that the school teams will already be handled and/or sponsored by business enterprises and private corporations in the province.

However, the management in the conduct of the games is to be handled by the Bohol Schools Athletic Association. Games will also be played in different local government units. This is done if only to develop the love of sports outside the city and prepare Boholano athletes for regional and national games.

It is a matter of record that before the birth of BSAA, Central Visayas Regional PRISAA meets were always dominated by athletes from Cebu City colleges and universities. Seldom could we hear of a Boholano athlete to qualify for the National PRISAA meets.

Not until two years after BSAA was born.

Woman’s Volleyball and Soccer Football teams from our province represented Region 7 to the National PRISAA. The Volleyball Women’s Team of BIT International College and the Soccer Football Team of PMI Colleges represented Region 7 in the National PRISAA meet.

In addition to these achievements, athletes from the individual games, like

running events, began to qualify for the national games.

Short Cuts is always in prayers for the fulfillment of BSAA’s plan in the conduct of a Second Conference.
