Dauis Mayor named Vice Mayor, hubby
in list of illegal drugs; accusation belied

NEOPHYTE Mayor Roman “Amoi” Bullen of Dauis town has named the former mayor and now the vice-mayor and her husband as allegedly included in the illegal drug list.

In his 100-day report before the employees at the municipal hall, Bullen mentioned ex-mayor and now Vice-Mayor Marietta “Miriam” Sumaylo and her husband, Josever Sumaylo, the incumbent Liga ng mga Barangay president, and Ryan Sigue, reportedly the former owner of cockpit here, who made it to the list of alleged illegal drugs.

Sigue was gunned down and died few minutes after his meeting with prominent citizens of the city not too long ago for still unknown reasons.

Bullen said he got the information from then ex-governor Atty. Victor dela Serna (deceased) who compared the list with that of the Malacanang. Dela Serna was the teacher of then president Rodrigo Roa Duterte when the former visited Malacanang in the early administration of PRRD.

“Ako mismo nakakita pod,” Bullen said. (I also see the list). But he did not name others who are allegedly in the illegal drugs list. The mayor said that he made mention of the two officials since “This is the right thing to do.”

Bullen called on President Bongbong Marcos, Gov. Aris Aumentado, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the police to do something on this score.

He was quoted as saying in the facebook post that, “drugs di mahuman kon di mawa’ ning mga tawhana.” (Illegal drugs will not end if these people will not be stopped).

The mayor cited the number of illegal drug cases of the town. He said there were 21 cases in 2016; 28 in 2017; 17 in 2018; 69 in 2019; 76 in 2020; 30 in 2021; and 31 in 2022.

Bullen won the May 9, 2022 elections against his archrival Josever Sumaylo. The latter’s wife (Marietta Sumaylo) opted to run for vice-mayor after her last term as mayor ended on June 30, 2022.

Bullen has only one councilor Joebert Bomediano elected to the Sangguniang Bayan dominated by Miriam Sumaylo’s line-up.

Sumaylo commented to Bullen’s statement that, “Sa 100 days report nimo Mayor Bullen, imo jud ko og ako bana gimention? Imo ming giakusahan? Nakakita jud ka listahan sa giingong illegal drugs? Ako man diay nag accept nimo last March 6, 2021 from abroad then giunsa nimo pagkakita kaha no?”

(Why do you accuse us in your 100 days report? Are you sure you see the list? I was the one who accepted you on March 6, 2021 from abroad then how were you able to see the list).

The vice-mayor said in her Marietta Tocmo Sumaylo facebook post that, “I was speechless and shocked!!!” while she’s contemplating to take legal action.

“Very embarrassing, makadismaya, makapahiubos og akoa na lang ni himoan og legal action to protect our rights, dignity and reputation,” she said.

But despite this, the vice-mayor vowed to continue her work to serve her people.

In a bid to prove that they’re not in the list nor involved in illegal drugs, her husband Josever Sumaylo posted certificates in his facebook page apparently clearing them of the alleged involvement in illegal drugs.

The certificates were issued by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Crime Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Bohol Provincial Police office (BPPO).

“PALIHUG E ZOOM UG BASAHA NINYO…, palihug usab e share ninyo sa inyong mga higala arun mahibal an sa tibook kalibotan nga BAKAK ang tanang pasangil batok kanamo,” the husband said. (Please read the certificates and share these so the whole world would know that the accusations against us by our political enemy are false). (rvo)
