TAGBILARAN City will commemorate its 60th Charter Day on July 1, 2026 with the launch of a yearlong Diamond Jubilee Celebration, marking six decades of cityhood under the theme “One Family, One City.”

The celebration will officially begin with a Thanksgiving Mass at the St. Joseph the Worker Diocesan Shrine and Cathedral-Parish, followed by the launching program at the Tagbilaran City Friendship Park, where city officials and government employees are expected to gather for the historic occasion.

Mayor Jane Yap said the Diamond Jubilee serves not only as a celebration of Tagbilaran’s transformation over the past six decades but also as an opportunity to strengthen unity among Tagbilaranons as the city charts its future.

“As we celebrate 60 years of cityhood, we honor the vision and sacrifices of those who built our city while reaffirming our commitment to continue working together as one family toward a more progressive, resilient, and inclusive Tagbilaran,” Yap said.

The yearlong observance will feature activities highlighting the city’s history, culture, and civic spirit.

Planned events include volunteerism and community service initiatives, recognition programs honoring individuals and organizations that have contributed to the city’s development, cultural performances, heritage exhibits, educational activities, and other commemorative events showcasing Tagbilaran’s rich identity and achievements.

According to the city government, the Diamond Jubilee celebration aims to encourage greater public participation and foster a deeper sense of pride and shared responsibility among residents while paying tribute to the people and institutions that have shaped the city’s growth since it became a chartered city in 1966.
