PDRRMC OKs move for 6-yr extension of Tarsier post

THE Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) of Bohol has urgently acted for Gov. Aris Aumentado, thru an authority from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, to sign an agreement with the Philippine Army for a six-year extension on the use of the Tarsier office extension and other buildings.

The move tackled during the second quarter meeting of the council was prompted after the Philippine Army which owns the said military reservation, where the present Tarsier is erected, refused the provincial proposed 25-year extension.

The place is the present location for PDRRM operations headquarters. The council also is planning for the eventual lapse of the extension period and preparing for the relocation of the Tarsier headquarters.

Meanwhile, the council tackled a move during the said meeting for the governor to issue an executive order for the creation of technical working group (TWG) in drafting of guidelines governing the spearfishing activity in the province.

This was prompted following the demise recently of one person while he was conducting spearfishing, which is not apparently not included in the approved provincial ordinance regulating the snorkeling and scuba diving per information of the tourism officer Joanne Pinat.

The 2nd Quarter Provincial DRRM Full Council Meeting. Discussions included updates from PAGASA on weather situation, African Swine Fever (ASF) by Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, and Provincial Heath Office’s report on Monkeypox suspected cases, among others, Damalerio said.

Also undertaken include approval of updated PDRRMC Response Plan, overview of DENR’s Project TRANSFORM and approval of funding allocation for procurement of rescue equipment for the Philippine Coast Guard Western and Eastern Bohol Stations.

“The council also approved an allocation for the field site preparation related to the conduct of a Collapsed Structure Search Rescue (CSSR) training by TaRSIER 117,” he said. (rvo)
