BOHECO I advocates adopt-a-school

BOHOL Electric Cooperative (BOHECO) I, not only lighting homes, but delighting the schools, as well, is firmly advocating the Adopt-A-School program thru its sponsorship in education by pouring funds to it.

And to realize this, BOHECO and Department of Education enacted a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed by board president Lorenzo Bangcoy and Schools Division Superintendent Fay C. Luarez, represented by Assistant SDS Eduardo Umpad signed on (March 4) at Metro Centre Hotel, Tagbilaran City.

The MOA provides for the responsibilities of both parties. For DepEd, it provides policy guidance and directions to ensure the proper implementation of the program; and coordinate with the BOHECO I in the implementation of the program, including the acceptance of the package of assistance and execution of corresponding Deeds of Acceptance through the school heads/principals; among others.

For its part, BOHECO I shall designate a focal person to serve as Partnership Coordinator for this Partnership Agreement; provide funding in accordance with the provisions covering a particular project of the Program; provide DepEd Central Office and Division and District Offices with regular reports, updates, among others.

BOHECO has earmarked a total of Php 875,000.00 for the following: BOHECO’s I’s Best, Php 390,000 (w/ 54 school beneficiaries); REWIRE, Php 375,000 (w/ 10 beneficiaries); and Picks ‘n Tops, Php 110,000 (w/ 5 beneficiaries), the MOA showed.

BOHECO created the Extending Collective Learning Assistance for Students and Schools (E-CLASS) program, a “platform under the umbrella of BOHECO 1 and ME Program, designed to support DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela Programs. It specifically aims to strengthen partnership between BOHECO I and DepEd in providing assistance for the achievement of conducive learning environment and additional school supplies for students and/or schools.”

Under this E-CLASS program, is the “boosting Excellence among Students Today (BOHECO I’s BEST) recognizes the students who have achieved academic excellence amid challenges by awarding them with Medallion of Excellence.  There will be a total of 554 public elementary and high schools’ recipients for this program.”

Another is the Brigada Electric Check or Rewiring and Enhancing Worn-out or Impaired Realms for Education (REWIRE) that supports Brigada Eskwela Program that rehabilitates classrooms with damaged or unsafe electrical wiring/installation.

And its Packs ‘n Tops also supports Brigada Eskwela Plus Program that provides schools supplies/materials for the new normal mode of teaching. There shall be Five (5) recipients for this project, the MOA said.BOHECO I is divided into nine districts of 3,551 sitios in 603 barangays in 29 towns. It has a total of 196,117 consumers, whose homes are 100% energized. (rvo)
