THE City Government of Tagbilaran, through the Tagbilaran City Primary Care Facility (TCPCF), culminated the 51st Nutrition Month Celebration with a focused call for food and nutrition security during a citywide program held on July 25, 2025, at the City Hall Atrium.
Anchored on the theme “Food at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!”, the celebration reinforced the city’s advocacy for maternal and child nutrition, especially among vulnerable families.
Mayor Jane Yap delivered an inspirational message, emphasizing that food security and proper nutrition are essential pillars of her administration’s health and social agenda.
“Nutrition is a basic right. By empowering our families—especially mothers—we empower the future of Tagbilaran,” said Mayor Yap.
Highlighting the city’s commitment to maternal health, Dr. Sheena Mae Sevilla, a medical doctor from the Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Services (BUCAS) Center, delivered a lecture focused on the importance of proper nutrition and healthcare for pregnant women, offering insights into prenatal care and prevention of complications.
Following the lecture, Mayor Jane Yap personally led the distribution of Ready-to-Use Supplementary Food (RUSF) for mothers, along with vegetable seeds, milk, and rice supplements.
The items aim to support nutrition and food sustainability among expectant mothers and low-income households.
“We hope these supplements and seeds inspire families to plant, nourish, and grow not just food—but a healthier future,” Mayor Yap said during the distribution.
The culmination program ended with a message from the City Nutrition Action Officer and City Health Officer Dr. Jeia N. Pondoc, who underscored the city’s consistent efforts in fostering a culture of preventive healthcare and improved nutrition.
The culmination event was part of a month-long celebration that included free medical services caravans and nutrition education campaigns.
