Dan Lim guns for guv, but relies on CRY machinery

FORMER Tagbilaran city Mayor Atty. Dan Neri Lim is gunning for governor against incumbent Gov. Aris Aumentado on May 12, 2025 national and local elections but largely relies on the machineries or resources of troika in Chatto, Relampagos and Yap (CRY).

Lim, 72, filed his COC as an independent despite the fact that he has a certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) from Liberal party.

It appeared that the CRY triumvirate would not take the Aumentado’s line-up lightly when they put a complete slate to slug it out in next year’s polls against the Aumentado administration.

Lim’s running-mate (for vice-guv) is former 2nd district Board Member Gerardo “Gerry” Garcia, whose daughter former BM has also filed COC for BM in the district.

Under the said ticket, what Lim called “Tingog sa Bol-anon,” not “Padayon” since it was cut short in 2022, Edgardo Migrino Chatto for reelection bid in first district, former NIA regional director Modesto Membreve, congressman for second district and Candijay’s first Eskaya lawyer McAldous Castanares for third district.

For Board members: reelectionists Atty. Venzencio “Benjie” Buhion Arcamo, Aldner Rafols Damalerio and city councilor last-termer Jonas Rivel Cacho (first district). The group also fielded reelectionist Vierna Mae “Mimi” Boniel and comebacking ex-BM Frans Gelaine Caminos Garcia, second district. Arnilieto “Along” Soriano Olandria, Elpidio Libres Bonita, Renato “Rene” Rapera Espinoza and Dominic Olaer Villafuerte, third district.

It was not immediately known if the said slate has fielded complete ticket in the municipal level.

Meanwhile, the sale of Bohol Light Company, Inc. (BLCI) has provoked Lim’s throwing his hat into the electoral exercise next year.

“That’s the main reason,” he told media interview minutes before he filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) at the commission on Elections provincial office on Tuesday.

He described his running for the highest post of the province as “unfinished business” since the Aumentado administration has made a “shortcut” sale of BLCI to Primelectric company, one of billionaire entrepreneur Enrique Razon’s group of companies.

Relampagos was seen in a certain white van where allegedly Yap was waiting. The said van was parked outside the Comelec office at the CPG Sports Complex, where Yap’s followers, like, Rene Espinoza, who filed his COC for third district board member, were also present.

When asked that rumors have it that he was allegedly “bought” to run, Lim said in jest that how good it is if it’s true. He did not give details, however. (rvo)
