Social media user Nica Gloduve Coching believed that her GCash account was hacked. “Nabiktima ako ng GCash and lost 38K.” She regretted to have deposited big amount in her GCash.

Matod pa nga aduna kini sulod iyang account nga P262,000 apan pag open niya P162, 000 nalang ang nahabilin. Another IG user Deep Web Konek said that “Many GCAsh users report missing from their wallets. A send to many transactions sent P2,000 to unknown accounts. Most incidents occurred around 2a.m. on Nov. 9 @GCashofficial. What’s hapening,” he said.

It was believed that the “System reconciliation blamed. But GCash incharge “assures user accounts safe, errors impact ‘few users’ amid complaints of missing funds,” Bilonaryo.com said.

GCash, the e-wallet venture of Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala and Jack Ma, recently encountered a technical issue during a system reconciliation process which it said impacted a limited number of user accounts.

The mobile wallet provider stated that the incident was isolated, confirming that all customer accounts remain secure.

GCash reported that it has identified the affected accounts and reached out to impacted users. Wallet adjustments are currently underway to correct any discrepancies, the company added.

The Globe Telecom unit moved to address customer concerns shared on social media about losing their money on the app early Saturday morning, November 9.

Meanwhile, Geeks on the Beach press statement said that GCash is the country’s leading e-wallet and digital financial services platform.

GCash Chief Data Officer Sara Venturina shared her insights on the GCash approach to harnessing data and AI for financial inclusivity on the first day of GOAB, alongside other stalwarts of the tech and startup community in the country and the region.

“FinTech companies like GCash use AI to drive convenience, financial inclusion, and economic growth. It powers new products, expands customer opportunities, and enhances protection,” said Venturina.

Venturina explained that pioneering data initiatives and transformative growth have marked GCash’s journey.

Between 2015 and 2019, GCash established Mynt, GXI, and Fuse, secured strategic investments from Ant Financial and Ayala, launched Pay QR to redefine cashless transactions, and developed GScore, a proprietary trust score for lending. (rvo)
