THE City Government of Tagbilaran continues its City Agrivet Membership Program, an Agrivet Dispersal initiative aimed at bolstering agricultural livelihoods, at barangays Dao and Cabawan on May 13 and 15, 2024.

The City Agriculture and Veterinary Office (CAVO), under the leadership of Dr. Genette Mae Egos-Yap, is at the helm of the program’s implementation. The initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to enhance food security and provide sustainable agricultural practices to the local community.

Comprising four sub-projects, including backyard gardening, pet vaccination, chicken dispersal, and seaweed production, the program aims to provide comprehensive support to local farmers and animal raisers.

The program’s holistic approach ensures that each cycle is well-supported with the necessary resources and expertise. Beneficiaries are equipped with live chickens, feeds, seedlings, and starter kits, alongside essential veterinary services, ensuring a comprehensive support system for their agricultural endeavors.

City Mayor Jane Yap also shared her thoughts on the initiative, highlighting its significance for the city’s future.

“Our commitment to supporting the agricultural sector is unwavering. The City Agrivet Membership Program is dedicated to creating a thriving and self-reliant community. By equipping Tagbilaranons with essential resources and knowledge, we are paving the way for healthier and financially independent residents. Together, we can achieve sustainable growth and resilience,” Mayor Yap affirmed.

The continuation of this program in the barangays of Dao and Cabawan is a testament to the City Government’s commitment to agricultural development and the well-being of its residents. By extending these initiatives to all barangays, Tagbilaran City aims to create a robust and self-sufficient agricultural sector that can withstand challenges.
