Miss Duero 2024 crowned

MS. Aaliyah Izza F. Sebumpan is crowned as Miss Duero 2024 in a glittering coronation night held at the town’s gym, Feb. 9, Mayor Al C. Taculad, who crowned the queen has posted in his facebook account.

Sebumpan represented barangay Madua Sur as the pageant is part of the town’s 161st foundation day celebration.

Barangay Payao’s bet Kristel Lou Licayan settled for first runner-up and Princess Jimenez of barangay Alejawan, second runner-up.

Proud of its motto, “Shine Duero, Shine,” that mayor said, “May this success be the stepping stone to a future filled with even greater accomplishments to both of you.”

The mayor thanked his “dedicated department heads, (local finance committee), our very active events coordinator Mr. Banjing Bajao and company, HR department and Mayor’s office staff headed by our chief of staff Yachanan Dalen, as well as our Tourism department, Sangguniang Bayan members headed by V-Mayor Hermes Bajao.”

Today (Feb. 11, 2024), the town marks its 161st birthday with an array of activities after the holy mass. There will be a parade with Diwata sa Duero and Miss Duero 2024 winners around the town as scheduled.

Awarding and bestowing recognitions to outstanding Duero residents who excel in their field of interests, municipal workers and other employees is expected to take place during the program prior to ball games.

Last Feb. 8, the town unveiled the agricultural fair and sashing of the Diwata aspirants, prior to the Drum and Lyre presentation. Gov. Aris C. Aumentado led the opening ceremony of the agri-fair and other activities of the day.

The following days, fun run and sports camp champions, like ball games (basketball and volleyball) and variety show in the evening were also undertaken as an important part of the celebration.

The mayor thanked his co-workers of the town, Vice-Mayor Hermes Bajao and the Sangguniang Bayan he chairs, national agencies, like the police force, fire department and all other offices. (ricobedencio@yahoo.com)
