A SIGNIFICANT step in bolstering cybersecurity efforts within Tagbilaran City unfolds as the Tagbilaran City Police Station (TCPS) inaugurated its new Anti-Cybercrime Desk during a ceremony attended by Mayor Jane Yap on January 26, 2024.
The event also saw the official turnover of essential office equipment to support the desk’s operations.
The TCPS, under the leadership of Chief of Police PLt.Col. Homobuno Sayon, hosted the opening ceremony, marking a crucial development in the city’s efforts to combat cyber threats.
City Mayor Yap, recognizing the increasing significance of cybersecurity, graced the event and personally turned over the necessary equipment to support the operations of the newly established Anti-Cybercrime Desk.
“In this digital age, combating cybercrime is a priority to ensure the safety and security of our residents. The establishment of the Anti-Cybercrime Desk is a proactive measure to address the challenges posed by cyber threats,” Mayor Yap emphasized during her address.
The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including PCol. Fidel Fortaleza Jr, Chief of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU) Central Visayas; PLt. Jumark Caña, Assistant Chief RACU7; and PLt. Aileen Marie Remedio of Bohol PNP.
Their participation underscored the collaborative effort between the local police force and regional authorities in safeguarding the city from cyber threats.
The inauguration ceremony included a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, blessing of the new facility, and a tour of the Anti-Cybercrime Desk.
The TCPS aims to enhance its capacity to investigate and address various cybercrimes, including online fraud, identity theft, and other cyber threats.
