IF only it is easy to trust politicians to be truthful, and not lie all the time, the proposal to change the constitution would not be that hard to do.
If only it is easy to trust a politicians’ promise, then things would have been easy and not complicated.
If only politicians will really be true to their words, with public interest in mind, all the time, then there would be no need to be wary about changing “only” the economic provisions of the constitution.
But trusting a politician is, well, nothing but wishful thinking.

But for a politician to break his promise is no novel idea, even understandable, and not surprising anymore, given the political landscape of the country.

If PRRD was mum on the name of the presidential candidate that he exposed as a drug user, irresponsible, indecisive, etc during the 2022 campaign period, this time around he is very vocal.

And if that is not enough, PRRD’s political allies have opened the possibility of PRRD running as senator in 2025.
If he runs, though he is mum about it too, then many people believe that winning a senatorial seat is just a breeze for PRRD.

And what will happen when PRRD is the senate president after the 2025 elections?
Of course, we can only speculate.
But for sure, it will become a very serious headache for the BBM administration.

In the local scene, a Manila-based lawyer is actively making the rounds, putting his face on tarps and the tarps are prominently displayed in the different parts of the district.
He champions himself as the people’s defender and he is extra friendly when he rounds the different barangays.

This is his first time in politics, he has not tried the barangay, the municipal or even provincial seats before, so he is practically a neophyte.
If stories are true that he is indeed vying for a congressional seat, then he will find himself toe to toe with a seasoned politician of the district in 2025.
As a neophyte, naturally, he does not have a barangay, municipal or district level machinery. He is expected to go direct to the voters because he cannot expect to ensnare in his political fold the Punong Barangays or the Mayors or the Board Members in the district.

If it is true that he can muster no less than 100 million pesos for his campaign kitty, well, he can probably put up a serious fight but just the same, money alone without a strong and reliable political machinery is definitely not enough to clinch a congressional seat.
