The City Government of Tagbilaran kicked off the Women’s Month Celebration with a motorcade on March 8, followed by a Holy Mass in the City Hall Atrium. City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA” Yap drumbeats this year’s theme of making change for women as various capacity-building activities were lined up to strengthen women’s entrepreneurial streak.

“We know and value a woman’s strength. In fact, this year’s celebration leveraged on that core, we provided relevant trainings to enhance the enterprising abilities of the women. All of us have been a silent witness to the resilience of our women in managing the household, nurturing their children, and loving their husbands. Thus, this special day, we celebrate with women all around the world,” Mayor Yap said.

USAID-CHANGE Project Coordinator Dr. Rosalinda Paredes also shared insights along with City Councilor Dulce Glovasa on the kick-off activity. The second part of the celebration focused on entrepreneurial mind setting with John Liquit.

Free ultrasound was also provided in the City Hall Atrium handled by Dr. Emevic Pascual.

Come March 25, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will conduct an orientation on women’s labor rights. The culmination activity will be capped off by a Gender and Development Seminar for City Government employees on March 30. (Jeanette Busano)
