City SP bags 2nd place in Regional Local Legislative Award

The proud moment of the members of the Tagbilaran Sangguniang Panlungsod for garnering the second place in the Search for the Best-performing Legislative Council, Component Cities Category in Central Visayas. The decision was arrived at on November 16, 2023 at the Cebu City Hall.

IN A remarkable achievement for the City Government of Tagbilaran, the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) has been awarded second place for the best-performing legislative council search in the component cities category throughout the entire Central Visayas region.

The prestigious accolade was conferred during the awarding ceremony for outstanding local government units in the Regional Level Assessment of the CY 2023 Local Legislative Award held on November 16, 2023 at the Cebu City Hall.

DILG-Region 7 Regional Director Leocadio Trovela handed the Plaque of Recognition to DILG-Bohol Provincial Director Jerome Gonzales and to the members of the 15th Sangguniang Panlungsod headed by Vice Mayor Adam Relson Jala together with the City Councilors  Nicanor Besas, Eliezer Borja, Fausto Budlong, Jose Esteban Timoteo Butalid, Charles Cabalit, Jonas Cacho, Gemma Inting, Odysseus Glovasa, Malvin Misael Torralba, Nerio Zamora II, Mary Jane Ruiz (Liga ng mga Barangay President) and Glicelle D. Policianos (Sangguniang Kabataan Federated President). Others present during the ceremony were SP Secretary Lynneth Mae Ibba and City Local Government Operations Officer Juliet Olalo.

Bogo City of Cebu and Dumaguete City of Negros Oriental secured the first and third spots, respectively.

The Regional Awards Committee assessed the compliance and performance of the City SP based on the following criteria: responsiveness of the legislative agenda, availability of legislative documents, effectiveness of performance of the Sanggunian, efficiency of performance of the Sanggunian, legislative citations and awards, and capacity development for legislators and staff.

The Local Legislative Awards was launched by the Philippine Councilors League in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government to recognize the exemplary performance of city and municipal councils that help build meaningful local administration and development and ultimately contribute to the attainment of desirable socio-economic and environmental outcomes.
