Valencia’s 154th founding anniversary

THE Municipality of Valencia marked its 154th Foundation Day in grand style with the inaugural Sang-at Festival.

In a dazzling display of talent and cultural pride, the first-ever Sang-at Festival witnessed the Valencia Technical Vocational High School (VTVHS) Contingent seize the top spot in the festival’s dance showdown. The VTVHS’ mesmerizing performance left the audience and judges in awe, making them the grand winners in this remarkable debut event. Following closely behind, the contingent from Valencia Central Elementary School (VCES) claimed the first runner-up as a testament to their outstanding performance, with the contingent from Mayor Pablo O. Lim Memorial High School (MPOLMHS) securing the second runner-up with their remarkable skills and artistry.

This historic event, deeply rooted in the town’s history and culture, brought together residents, participants, and spectators near and far, making its debut a memorable one.

The festival commenced with “Suroy sa Valencia,” a day filled with diverse activities, including a thrilling Bike Challenge, the grand opening of “Pasundayag sa Chibugan,” a Soccer for a Cause match, and an End Polio Vaccination Campaign.

On the second day, the community came together for “Alay sa Kapwa.” This day held a special commemoration of the martyrdom of Cong. Teodoro Abueva and his wife. Additionally, a Blood Donation Campaign, LGU Pamper Day, and a Business Forum along with the BOSS Caravan contributed to the day’s significance.

“Nagkadaiyang Katakus,” the third day, showed a commitment to environmental stewardship with a Tree Planting Activity. Participants and residents also enjoyed the Sang-at Contest and Choya Sakayan Contest, along with a thrilling basketball exhibition.

Day Four was dedicated to honoring the elderly residents of Valencia, marked as Senior Citizen’s Day in which they had a grand parade.

The fifth day, celebrated as “Adlaw sa Kabatan-onan,” was dedicated to the youth. Activities included the Laro ng Lahi, an E-Sports Festival, and the much-anticipated “The Proud Bisaya Concert.” The day was highlighted with the visit of all department heads of Valencia City, Bukidnon.

The grand finale of the festival, celebrating the 154th Foundation Day, was a day filled with joy and unity. The Sang-at Grand Festival culminated with a “Sadsad sa Dalan” parade and a spectacular “Painsayaw” dance performance.

The Sang-at Festival made its inaugural appearance a resounding success, providing a platform for showcasing local talent and fostering a sense of community and pride among the residents of Valencia.
