MUCH like then President’s Carlos P. Garcia’s Filipino First Policy, Governor Aris Aumentado reminded everyone to be of service to others above all else.
“On the occasion of his 127th birth anniversary, we are once again reminded of the importance of genuine public service for the Boholanos. He personifies what every Boholano should aspire to: placing service, excellence, and dedication to the well-being of our people above all else,” he stressed.
This, he said during the 127th birthday of Bohol’s most illustrious son, former President of the Philippines, Carlos Polestico Garcia held at the Bohol Cultural Center, Tagbilaran City on November 4, 2023.
The governor said that Garcia’s brand of leadership illustrates how he loves the people and the generations next in consonance with the theme “Buhing Panig-ingnan sa Tinuod nga Pangalagad Ngadto sa Katawhan,”
The Garcia Day celebration “is a moment for reflection, celebration, and inspiration. As we remember him on this special day, may we be reminded that the strength of our community lies in our unity, our sense of purpose, and our shared values.”
The CPG Day puts premium on the contribution of some individuals and entities that somehow brings honor to the province. They were bestowed with a Plaque of Appreciation as awards of excellence.
“As such, we also recognize and celebrate Boholano topnotchers, as well as individuals and institutions, that have excelled in their respective fields. Their hardwork, innovative spirit, and unwavering commitment have made significant contributions to the betterment of our community and to the esteemed reputation of our province.”
He concluded that “Just as President Garcia advocated for the well-being of every Filipino people, we too should bear the responsibility of serving our community and contributing to its growth and development. Let us persist in building a better and brighter tomorrow for our beloved province through our collective efforts.”
The governor and Vice-Gov. Dionisio Victor A. Balite led the wreath-laying at the foot of giant statue of President Garcia at past seven in the morning. Also, board members Tita Baja, Gloria Gementiza, Greg Jala, Dr. Romulo Cepedoza, Atty. Benjie Arcamo and Aldner Damalerio did the same.
City Councilor Ondoy Borja, who represented city Mayor Jane Yap, also did the same with the presence of mostly law enforcers, the police, personnel of fire department and others.
The governor also recognized the guests of the celebration. Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte, Mayors led by LMP President Mayor Dave Duallo, Heads of National Government Agencies and Government Owned and Controlled Corporations in Bohol, Private Sector and Civil Society Organization Partners, Capitol Employees, CPG Excellence Awardees.
