TAGBILARAN City has once again demonstrated its exceptional performance by securing the prestigious title as the “Most Competitive Component City” in the entire Visayas region, according to the recently released 2023 Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index (CMCI).
The City also claimed the tenth overall position in the national rankings.
The CMCI, an annual ranking developed by the National Competitiveness Council, assesses and recognizes the competitiveness of Philippine cities and municipalities across various categories.
Tagbilaran City stood out as a shining example of a thriving and progressive urban center, both regionally and nationally.
In this year’s CMCI, Tagbilaran City achieved significant milestones.
The City not only claimed the tenth overall spot but also secured the tenth position in the “Most Improved Component City” category, showcasing its commitment to continuous growth and development.
Perhaps most notably, Tagbilaran City significantly improved its rankings across all four pillars of competitiveness.
In the Government Efficiency category, the City surged from 24th to an impressive 4th place.
In the Infrastructure pillar, Tagbilaran City advanced from 26th to a commendable 7th place.
In the Innovation category, the City leaped from 24th to a remarkable 9th place.
Finally, in the Resiliency pillar, Tagbilaran City made a remarkable jump from 103rd to a laudable 10th place.
The CMCI rankings are determined by evaluating cities and municipalities across five critical pillars: economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, resiliency, and innovation.
Tagbilaran City’s stellar performance across these pillars reflects its commitment to fostering a vibrant economy, efficient governance, robust infrastructure, adaptability to challenges, and a culture of innovation.
Mayor Jane Yap expressed her pride and gratitude for the recognition.
