City Government marks start of  
Civil Service month celebration

City Mayor Jane Yap delivers a message of appreciation to City Government employees for their undying service and dedication to the City of Tagbilaran. THE City Government of Tagbilaran ushered in the celebration of the 123rd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary on September 4, 2023, with a special Flag Raising Ceremony held at the City Hall.

The event was graced by the presence of City Mayor Jane Yap, who delivered a brief but impactful message on this significant occasion.

Mayor Yap expressed her gratitude to the city’s dedicated civil servants, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to public service.

She emphasized the vital role of civil servants in upholding good governance and ensuring the delivery of efficient and quality public services to all Tagbilaranons.

In her words, the mayor said: “Our civil servants are the backbone of our city. Your dedication and hard work are instrumental in our pursuit of progress and development in Tagbilaran City.”

One of the highlights of the event was the awarding of the Special Citation for Exceptional Phone Etiquette in Public Service, given to four outstanding individuals who have demonstrated exceptional phone etiquette and service excellence in their respective roles.

The recipients who received the award from Mayor Yap and City Administrator Cathelyn Torremocha included Ms. Ma. Emilia Galaura of the City General Services Office, Ms. Grechelle Indoyon of the City Engineer’s Office, Ms. Jinky Tecson of the City Planning and Development Office and Ms. Babe Queenine Ordidor of the City Administrator’s Office.

As part of the month-long celebration, the City Government of Tagbilaran has lined up various activities aimed at recognizing and appreciating the hard work and dedication of its employees.

These activities include the Reorientation on GSIS, Pag-Ibig, and PhilHealth Benefits on September 7, providing employees with essential information to maximize their benefits and a Webinar on Kobo Tool on September 15, promoting the use of technology to enhance government service.

There will be an HR Symposium on September 20, 2023 at JJ’s Seafood Village, encouraging continuous learning and development among human resource practitioners, while a Yoga session will be held on September 22, focusing on the holistic well-being of employees.

An awarding ceremony for City government employees under the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) will be done on September 29 to recognize outstanding achievements of offices and employees.

Moreover, the celebration includes “Theme Outfit Tuesdays”, where city employees are encouraged to wear attire representing specific themes: September 5: Red or blue attire symbolizing patriotism; September 12: Business professional attire to signify integrity; September 19: Green attire to symbolize excellence; September 26: Purple attire representing spirituality.

These themes aim to create a sense of unity and camaraderie among employees while emphasizing values and principles integral to public service.
