Congw. Tutor pushes for amendment of Phil. Auditing Code

CONGW. TUTOR

CONGRESSWOMAN Kristine Alexie B. Tutor has proposed for amendments to the 45-year old State Audit Code of the Philippines, which she called “progressing.”

Accountants and auditors welcome the move of the lady solon, chairperson of the House Committee on Civil Service and Professional Regulation.

The lady lawmaker said amendments to the government procurement law are already progressing towards being passed by Congress.

The first step toward a new State Audit Code should begin at the Commission on Audit, the Department of Budget and Management, the Department of Finance, and the Governance Commission on GOCCs because these departments are at the forefront of and directly experience the intricacies of the antiquated audit rules and regulations.

She said she wanted to receive proposed regulations from accounting and auditing practitioners.

Among the amendments should be the provisions on forensic audits, information technology, and the use of artificial intelligence to detect patterns and anomalies in financial transactions in every national government agency and at local governments.

As a member of Congress, the solon is ready to collaborate and work with her esteemed colleagues to ensure the swift and effective passage of the crucial amendments. (with report from RT)
