TWENTY hopefuls will be competing for the most prestigious Miss Bohol 2023 which is making a grand comeback this year following a hiatus of three long years due to the pandemic.
The 20 candidates received their official sashes with the name of the towns they are representing from Congresswoman Vanessa C. Aumentado, this year’s pageant chairperson with Ms. Loinda Saluan, as co-chair at a press conference on June 13 at the Ceremonial Hall, New Capitol building, Tagbilaran City.
The candidates representing their respective towns are the following: Jennifer D. Curiba, 22, (Alicia); Nina Luz Gultiano Makinano, 20, (Anda); Julianna Pearl Jubane Ayco, 19, (Antequera); Jeanine Domaldo Carulasan, 22, (Baclayon); Mel Rose C. Oliverio, 20 (Batuan); Girlee Joy B. Melencion, 18 (Buenavista); Niane Mae D. Dante, 20 (Corella); Marielle Frances Ramos, 21 (Dauis); Gwenefer Adorable Cagata, 18 (Dimiao); and Desiree B. Gerenia, 20 (Duero).
Other are: Apple Mae D. Anora, 24 (Inabanga); Marvi Love Baculio, 22 (Guindulman); Roseanne Polizon Salas, 24 (Jagna); Trisha Marie C. Libres, 22 (Lila); Lunica Mae R. Logronio, 23 (Loon); Sheila Marie Tangcawan Fraser, 23 (Panglao); Kyra Rei D. Hopkins, 20 (Tagbilaran City); Rose Jane R. Israel, 22 (Trinidad); Mia Lei Z. Mateo, 21 (Tubigon); and Antonette Cagatin Tagud, 22 (Valencia).
The press selected three bets as finalists — Sheila Marie Tangcawan Fraser, 23 (Panglao); Kyra Rei D. Hopkins, 20 (Tagbilaran City); Rose Jane R. Israel, 22 (Trinidad) — for the Darling of the Press award which will be given on grand coronation night on July 15.
There was no announcement yet who will host the Miss Bohol and to compose the board of judges.
Miss Bohol 2023 is presented by the provincial government of Bohol under the administration of Gov. Aris Aumentado.
Miss Bohol 2023, which used to be Miss Bohol Sandugo tries to find a Boholana who “embodies the values of empowerment and leadership and, in so doing, make a meaningful contribution” to her fellow Boholanos. (rvo)
