THE City Government of Tagbilaran through the City Agriculture and Veterinary Office conducted the 1st Saulog Urban Agricultural Fun Fair on May 16-19, 2023.
During this event, agri-trade fair booths were set up at the City Hall grounds to showcase the rich agricultural products of the 15 barangays of Tagbilaran.
The Saulog Urban Agricultural Fair provided a platform to farmers of urban Tagbilaran to display their exceptional produce and connect with consumers who appreciate fresh, locally sourced products.
Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap emphasized the importance of supporting and empowering urban farmers and backyard gardening.
“The Saulog Urban Agricultural Fair is not only a celebration of the city’s farming sector but also a means to uplift our urban farmers and backyard gardeners. Through this event, we aim to promote sustainable farming practices, create market opportunities, and enhance food security in our city,” Mayor Yap stated.
The fair featured booths and exhibits from various barangays, showcasing an impressive array of agricultural products.
Visitors who attended the fair had the opportunity to explore an assortment of fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, ornamental plants and other farm-fresh delights, all proudly produced by the dedicated urban farmers of Tagbilaran City.
The City Government of Tagbilaran strongly supports the efforts of urban farmers by encouraging Tagbilaranons to purchase their products [thereby] spreading the message of sustainable agriculture.
This event is a way of acknowledging the hard work, dedication, and creativity of the city’s urban farmers, who are transforming Tagbilaran’s urban spaces into productive and sustainable agricultural havens.
