THE provincial Capitol building has finally been issued an occupancy certificate by the city government of Tagbilaran.
The said certificate numbered b-02305115 issued on May 12, 2023 after over three years when the new building was occupied by employees.
The building is described as “institutional” with an area of 17,200 square meters by virtue of building permit number B-7110609 issued on November 7, 2017.
The occupancy certificate is signed by in-charge of the Office of Building Officer Engr. Gina Bulawin-Inting and noted by city Engr. Teodoro Estoque.
The issuance of the said occupancy certificate was prompted after careful inspection and all the documents/requirements have been complied with, according to Engr. Caliao of the Provincial General Services Office in an interview with Marc Pernia.
A reliable Capitol source said that the past administrations of then governors appeared to have failed to secure the said certificate but employees were prodded upon to occupy the building after it “was finished” even without the said document, a prerequisite pursuant to National Building Code or Presidential Decree No. 1096.
The old Capitol building located infront of the Plaza Rizal is now being occupied by the National Museum housing historical relics and the Capitol annex rented by the Department of agrarian Reform and other tenants. (rvo)
