A 3-day KADIWA Retail, food and product display opened on April 26, 2023, at the CPG Park Bohol Showcase Center, featuring local cuisine and produce from farmer’s cooperatives and associations and food vendors.
The Department of Agriculture (DA) led by Asst. Agricultural Promotion Center Officer Cecile Opada, Agribusiness and Marketing Division (AMAD) representative Jenny Evardo along with the Governor’s Office Chief of Staff Atty. Filipina Asoy-Piollo, and the Governor’s Office Executive Assistant for Agriculture Nunila Pinat led the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Opada welcomed guests and exhibitors to the program and thanked the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBH) and Local Government Units (LGUs) for the support extended to the program and the exhibitors.
The DA, she said, continues to support farmers and fisher folk in production, particularly for inputs, technology, and financing to produce food for consumption.
Evardo for her part expressed gratitude to the Provincial Government through the Governor’s Office and the Office of the Provincial Agriculture (OPA) for the partnership.
Meanwhile, Piollo articulated the objective of the Provincial Government led by Governor Aris Aumentado for food sufficiency, promotion of Boholano cuisine in tourism, as well as health and nutrition.
She noted the increased support of the PGBh for agribusiness programs as well as plans to develop the showcase center into a hub to display local produce and souvenir items this year.
The activity is part of the culmination of Filipino Food Month of April which aims to promote and preserve culinary traditions and support industries, farmers, and agri communities that benefit from it.
This year’s Buwan ng Kalutong Filipino is themed “Pagkaing Sariling Atin, Mahalin at Pagyamanin” and is also supported by the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA), Department of Tourism (DOT) and Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement. (PIMO/LMS).
