Mayor Yap leads 2023 NWMC culmination activity

TAGBILARAN City Mayor Jane Yap led the whole day 2023 National Women’s Month celebration culmination activity held on March 31, 2023 at Jj’s Seafood Village.

The event gathered more than 300 women composed of the different City Government department heads and employees, officers and representatives of the City Women’s Association from the 15 barangays, the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI), the Muslim women’s groups and the group of women with disabilities. 

In her keynote message, Mayor Yap urged all women to embrace leadership roles within their families and communities, highlighting the significant impact they can make. 

“Never doubt yourself and your ability to succeed.  You possess the power of ‘GUGMA’ and you are capable of accomplishing anything,” she said.

The highlight of the morning activity was the formal launching of the Tagbilaran City Government Women’s Association (TCGWA).  It was marked with the signing of its Constitution and By-Laws by all the representatives of the different City Government departments and offices and was witnessed by Mayor Yap and City Administrator Cathelyn Torremocha represented by Dr. Karina Mae Uy.

This was followed by a sharing of a woman’s success story by Helen Binangbang, owner of Alva’s Chicken and Chicharon while Dr. Joan Llanos talked about enhancing personal effectiveness.

In the afternoon, a dance contest and raffle draw were held.  In the competition, the TCGWA was declared Dance Contest Champion. The entries from the City Women’s Association and KALIPI emerged as 2nd and 3rd placers, respectively.
