ON its 12th anniversary last March 25, 2023, the Telephone and Radio System Integrated Emergency Response 117 (TaRSIER117) opened its Candijay Substation. The services of this new substation covers a total of 72 barangays in Candijay and the neighboring towns of Anda, Guindulman, and Alicia. The substation opened with a 25-personnel complement including medics, communicators, drivers, and administrative staff; communication equipment and internet connectivity; and basic life support-capable ambulance.
Governor Aris Aumentado, Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte, Candijay Mayor Thamar Olaivar, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (PDRRMO) Anthony Damalerio led the ribbon-cutting rites together with Candijay Community Hospital chief Dr. Alex Sumera, Provincial Health Office’s Dr. Emerson Mateo, TaRSIER head of operations and warning division Jose Requeron, and PDRRMO administrative officer Ryan Palma. Rev. Fr. Chito Lozada officiated the blessing of the substation located inside the Candijay Community Hospital compound.
Established on March 25, 2011, the TARSIER117 as the quick response arm of the PDRRM Council has grown from its main headquarters of 22 personnel to its present 300 personnel comprising the main headquarters and 7 substations in Balilihan, Loon, Carmen, Jagna, Ubay, Talibon and the new substation in Candijay. TaRSIER117 will further expand with substations in Panglao and Inabanga within the year.
Aumentado congratulated TaRSIER117 on their anniversary and expressed his support in upgrading Bohol’s DRRM to higher levels of capability. PDRMMO Anthony Damalerio cited that Bohol’s innovations in DRRM has been a benchmark site among Visayas and Mindanao LGUs.
At the PDRRMO Comand Center, a Holy Mass officiated by Fr. Jonas Lubiano was celebrated along with the blessing of a lift used for the maintenance of CCTVs. This was followed by a motorcade of its vehicle assets to celebrate TaRSIER117’s 12 years of service to the Boholanos. (PiMO/LMS)
