Parental Support and its Importance

PARENTAL support is one of the major things that children and adolescents need. It is simply because the support that children and teenagers get from their parents and guardians can make them feel that they are loved, supported, safe, and secure. Moreover, parental support is a powerful tool that can be used by children and teenagers against peer pressure, as well as against different problems, challenges, and difficulties in life.

Parental support means the support that children get from their parents and guardians. It can help children and teenagers a lot. If parents and guardians are showing support to their children, it can encourage their children to do better in every aspect of their lives, especially when it comes to their education. On the contrary, if children are not receiving support from their parents and guardians, they are not encouraged to do better.

Parental support is important in their children’s education. When parents are involved in their children’s education, they are more likely to be performing well in school. They are more likely to get good scores in every examination and performance task given to them by their teachers. They will have better social, mental, and emotional development. Parental support can help improve their children’s achievement, self-esteem as well as behavior. It is more likely to take place if children and teenagers can feel that they are receiving support from their parents and guardians.

In an article that I read last February 24, 2023, which is entitled “Supportive Parenting and Teenagers” ( https://parents.au.reachout.com ), being a supportive parent means having your child’s interest at heart but also being present, involved, and helpful. It includes actively encouraging children to do their best with school, their hobbies, and interests; listening without judgment and seeking to understand their concerns and challenges; acknowledging their achievements and supporting them through mistakes and challenges; setting consistent expectations and consequences to help them to feel secure and able to predict outcomes; and treating them fairly and developing a trusting relationship.

Parental support is important for a child to excel in everything they do. At home, in school, or even in the community where the child or teenager lives, as long as parental support from the parents and guardians is evident, for sure the child or the teenager becomes successful in whatever they do. It is simply because their support system is very strong and evident. Parental support can boost the confidence and self-esteem of a growing child. So, parental support of the parents and guardians must be strongly evident and must be present at all times for the child or teenager to be better at everything they do.

Parents and guardians must always put in their respective hearts and minds the true essence and importance of parental support. They must value parental support always since if it is evident, it can help a child or a teenager.  If parental support is inconsistent or not that evident, it can give negative effects on children and teenagers. It can make children and teenagers question their parents and guardians about the support given to them. It can make children and teenagers think that they are not loved and supported by their parents and guardians at all times.

On the other hand, if parental support is always present, it can give positive results to the child or teenager. It can boost the confidence of the child or teenager, can encourage the child or teenager to do better in whatever he or she is doing and most of all can develop a good and trusting relationship between the child or teenager and their parents or guardians. That is why parents and guardians must be helping and supporting their children at all times since it is absolutely important and beneficial to both parents or guardians and their children.
