Lila, Dimiao towns celebrate foundation days

THE neighboring centuries-old towns of Lila and Dimiao have marked their respective foundation days on January 20, 2023 and January 22, 2023 (Sunday), respectively.

This was confirmed by municipal Mayor Atty. Jed Piollo of Lila and Mayor Randolph Ang of Dimiao in separate interviews.

Lila on its 15th year and Dimiao on its 254th years of existence have lined up their activities, highlighting their respective agricultural produce in displays at their respective public plazas infront of the old churches.

Both mayors said that most important of the celebration is the utmost cooperation and unity of the people to make the anniversary meaningful and successful.

In Lila on Friday, the rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of the barangay folks without the usual parade due to rain and partook in folk and modern dance competition showcasing the ability of the barangay folks to show their cultural ability.

Mayor Piollo generously gave bikes and other goodies raffled for those who may be lucky. He was assited by Vice-Mayor Regina Salazar and her SB members with the presence of Board Member Greg Jala on Friday.

In Dimiao, Mayor Ang said that displays of agricultural produce started in the by-district group booths. The following day the celebration continued with various activities and on Sunday the final day with a bang.

Among the displays that caught the attention of the visitors is the display of, probably the biggest, Ubi tam-isan variety.
