“Pasagdan lang sama sa uk-ok”

I don’t know if this will make a lot of public school teachers happy but I’m sure this is a pretty good idea.
On his summation of accomplishments during his State of the Municipality Address (SOMA) last Wednesday, Mayor Dionisio Neil Balite of Valencia included an appeal to all public school teachers to stop the practice of preparing lavish food preparation every time they have visitors.
Why?
Because this is highly abused, and grossly unfair as well, on the part of the teachers, PTA officials and even students who are made to “donate” food stuffs for the guests.

Naturally, the Principal or the Head Teachers get a lot of thank you’s from the visitors, “kay maayo kaayo moabi-abi namo og gipadad-an pa gyod mi og daghang bringhouse.”
But the reality is – everything that is served on the table are forced contribution, seldom are they offered voluntarily, and the donors are not really that affluent or rich but are just ordinary guys like you and me, and who just could not refuse the “request” from the Principal.

But with the recent appeal to stop this practice, I’m sure this will be good news to the public school teachers concerned.
It is also pleasing to note that Mayor Neil Balite has also sent a formal appeal to the Deped officials in the province to do the same thing.
This has become a perennial practice among DepEd officials when they visit schools in the different municipalities.
In most cases, their food preparation entails much time, much effort and much money than the real purpose of the visit.
Every visit is a heavy burden on the part of the Principal and teachers of the school.

And what happens when the generous Principal or Teachers visit the Division office?
Gipakaon o giatiman ba sila?
Nada.
In fact, gawas nga dili pakan-on o atimanon, ang nibisita mao pa gyod magdala og pasalubong.
Husto diay na? Maayong pamatasan diay na?

While we are on this topic, there is one issue that I want to add.
This involves the “summons” from the Division Office for a particular Principal, Head Teacher or Teacher to report to the Division Office.
How do they make the “summons?”
By text or call, of course.
Using the regular snail mail takes time and by the time the letter arrives, it’s already past due. So they resort to texting or chatting.
Question – when the teacher responds to the summons, is his trip official?
If it is, then, no problem.
If it’s not, then there’s a big problem.
Why?
What happens when during the trip to the Division Office, the teacher meets an accident?
Can the teacher claim all the benefits due him or her?

This is the problem.
When the officials from the Division Office go for school visits, their trip is covered by Travel Order, hence, it is an official travel. As such, they are entitled to the perks for the travel.
But how about the teachers from the different municipalities who are summoned to the Division Office, are these trips also covered by a Travel Order?
If not, why the double standard?

Anyway, with the formal appeal from the Valencia Mayor to the top officials of DepEd Bohol, they are now put on notice that this highly abused practice should be stopped.
I would even recommend that a similar letter will be sent to the Regional Director of DepEd so the formal notice will be made region wide.
I’m sure a lot of teachers will be happy about this.

But I will leave it to Governor Aris to explain what the money that I asked from him was all about.
Legit nga gasto to og dili pangikik, hehehe.
And Gov Aris can very well explain what it was about.
Of course, it he thought nga mo-matter ang mga komentaryo sa maong has-been nga politiko, iya segurong tubagon.
Pero kon sagbot ra pod sa dunggan ni Gov Aris ang gipangyawyaw sa has-been, he can very well opt to just ignore it like what I do kon dunay molabay nga uk-ok.
