GOVERNOR Erico Aristotle “Aris” C. Aumentado met with the chiefs of police from the 48 police stations across the Province of Bohol, together with representatives from the Tourist Police, Police Regional Mobile Group (RMG), and Special Weapons And Tactics Team (SWAT), in a coordination meeting last October 9, 2022, Sunday afternoon, at the Ceremonial Hall of the New Provincial Capitol, Cogon District, Tagbilaran City in order to discuss the peace and order situation in the province.
During the said gathering, Aumentado raised his concern over some policemen who are allegedly running “colorum” van operations across the province. He reminded them not to abuse their powers as members of the police force and gave them a deadline of December this year to comply with the necessary requirements for registration.
“Ayaw mo panglamang ug gamiton ang pagka-pulis aron lang makapadayon sa inyong iligal nga operasyon,” the governor said.
They also discussed the different traffic violations that have become rampant across the province.
Examples of these violations are: driving motorcycles without a helmet; driving while wearing shorts, slippers, or half-naked; minors who are driving without the necessary permits and safety garments; and vehicles with no OR/CR.
Aumentado then ordered the strict enforcement of the relevant traffic rules and regulations, together with the resolution of other issues such as the purchase of intoxicating drinks and cigarettes by minors, and smoking in public places.
The drug problem was also thoroughly discussed, with the governor expressing his worry over the rising volume of illegal substances being seized in different parts of the province.
He mentioned several areas of concern during the meeting and ordered the officials responsible in those towns to control, if not eradicate, the presence of drugs in their respective communities.
“Karon, kinahanglang lig-onon ang atong kampanya bahin sa droga. Magtinabangay kita bahin niini,” the governor reiterated to the chiefs of police who are in the meeting.
PCOL Osmundo Salibo, Provincial Director of the PNP – Bohol Police Provincial Office (PNP-BPPO) and former Usec. Arturo Evangelista of the Provincial Government of Bohol are also in attendance. (PR)
