LIFE is amazing if we just know how to play with it. But sometimes, tough instances unexpectedly come in our lives. This probably challenges us to still see the beauty of life despite such a situation. Unfortunately, other individuals see it the other way. If not addressed, it might lead to a psychological issue.
Recently, towns in Bohol were devastated by Typhoon Odette (Typhoon Rai) on the 16th day of December 2021. Most affected areas were Buenavista, Bien Unido, Talibon, Ubay and CPG. Undeniably, it leaves negative impacts on residents. Seeing the suffering of the people, the European Union Humanitarian Aid provided support to non-government organizations, namely, the Humanity & Inclusion Organization in partnership with Save the Children Organization, IDEALS Organization, Sikat Organization, and OXFAM Organization that provide welfare works for the affected areas.
As part of their emergency response, they provided 3-day Training of Trainers for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support at Soledad Suites Hotel and at Metro Center Hotel, Tagbilaran City last July 6, 7 & 8, 2022 wherein Educational Districts of the mentioned towns sent their representatives.
The said training was also being supported by the Department of Education – Division of Bohol. Furthermore, participating in the activity is an honor. Words from the experts were truly powerful for lots of insights were acquired that were worth life-changing to participants. Their views in life were changed concerning the disaster.
The training was comprehensive and successful wherein most of them realized that they attended the training with only a hundred, surprisingly, they went home with a thousand. Participants were being capacitated on how to properly address the needs of individuals concerning the mental health aspect.
Many are struggling silently but they don’t know when and how to start addressing it. As an output of the aforementioned training, trainers were encouraged to make a rollout with the topics, ways, and activities to their respective educational districts. It is expected that it will be extended to their colleagues, as well as to the community, most especially to the young learners. Trainers are optimistic that such action will lead to healing. Believed that having the goal of helping one another in creating a healthy mental environment can build a better place. Altogether will rise from the devastation of the typhoon. Spreading wings as high as possible, leaving all the negativities on the ground. After all, life goes on.
