“The 3 initials”

SOMEBODY in the US wanted me to handle her case.
There was this pre-selling scheme and because the agent was a close friend, she agreed.
Per contract, she paid the stipulated amount, per quarter. Naturally, she expected that with her payments, the developer would be true to his commitment.
Now, she has paid several millions. She expected the unit to be finished by about 75%.
But when she asked for picture of the unit, thru her relatives, she found out that the developer is still on the foundation stage.
Layo pas tinai.
So she did the ordinary thing to do.
She demanded the delivery of the unit, as per contract, or the return of her money.
The office personnel, probably briefed on issues like these, nonchalantly said that she should examine very closely the terms of the contract. Because for sure, she would find no fault or default on the part of the developer.
And she upped the ante – she could also opt to file the necessary case, which would take time and would entail a lot of inconveniences on her part, especially that she is residing in the US.

Now the US-based client of this developer, who by the way used to wield so much power in the capitol that he could virtually do as he pleased, opted for the legal process.
So when she called back the office of the developer, the same personnel asked her if she has already contacted a lawyer to handle her case.
And when she gave the name of the lawyer, the office personnel right away did an about face.
Kon gusto gyod ka og mauli nang imong nahatag mam, pwede ra man pod, total, duna may gusto mo-assume sa imong unit.

So right now, they are on the process of settling the issues.
Hopefully, the issue will be resolved and the client will get the full amount that she has given the developer.
Perte ka mangingilad gyod ning maong developer.
Daghan nang mitiyabaw ani niya kay bisan og wa nay “gahom” kay wa na man lagi sa capitol, padayon lang gihapon sa iyang hiwi nga negosyo.
By the way, if you’re wondering, the company of the developer starts with letter A.

There was one time when actor and senatorial candidate Robin Padilla visited the capitol and he was met by Art Yap.
There was a discussion and out of that discussion was the plan to set up a cemetery for Muslims in Bohol.
Accordingly, there was a document signed for the purpose.
When the dust of the politics settled down, and Art Yap was humiliatingly defeated by Aris Aumentado, it was found out that the agreement was just that, an agreement.
Wala pa man diay yuta nga na-identify og asa ibutang ang maong sementeryo.
Naturally, the Muslim brothers did a follow up in the capitol because they really wanted that cemetery and they believed that Art Yap really meant what he said.
Dakoang problema.
I don’t know if Gov Aris has already located the site. I also don’t know if this possible.

There was a time when three letters meant a lot in all government transactions.
When the document bears the 3 letters at the bottom or at the side of the document, it was already good as approved.
Usually, it started with “upon the instruction of” followed by the 3 letters.
And instantly, approved dayon.
That was during the heydays of PRRD.
Nowadays, the situation is different.
Insert the 3 letters in your resume and presto, you will be rejected.

A friend once told me he submitted his personal data sheet, his application letter and recommendation from a politician.
The recommendation from the politician was a big splash because of the belief that in the region, her endorsement counts a lot.
Everything went well until the prying eyes came upon the personal references.
One of the officials mentioned was the same official, also known by his 3 letter-title and name.
Sus, okay na unta imong mga papeles tanan pero kon gusto ka madawat, usba nang imong PDS.
Asa may usbon, was the question.
Tantanga unya ilisi og lain kanang naapil sa imong personal references nga 3 letters.
Why?
Ah basta, kon di na nimo tantangon, mao ra nay maka-ingon nga di nimo makuha ang imong gi-aplayan.
Opppsss, mao bah?
How time flies. And how different is 6 years to a once-powerful initials.

Nowadays, those in the know will already shy away from using the initials. Or any reference to him.
For instance.
The official was a shoo-in to the vacated position. He was really thought to be the best candidate for the position.
He was very smart, he knows his way around with the media and his position was such that he had more than ample knowledge of running the day to day activities of the department.
Even the one previously occupying the position knew that it was just a matter of time for our actor to get the position.
He was well sought and well received by senators and congressmen alike.
Until his record was checked.
Oppsss, the name of the guy with the 3 initials was discovered.
He was perceived as the protegee of that dreaded official.
And presto, he was out of the race.
Natangtang intawon.

A former policeman told me he suspects a business scheme in the series of highway robberies in the province lately.
Gusto nila hadlokon ang mo-invest dinhi sa Bohol, mao nang dunay panghitabo pirmi diri.
Kinsa may ganahan mo-invest kon way klaro ang peace and order situation sa usa ka lugar, he told me.
Of course, this is just speculation.
It may or may not be true.
The only thing to find out is to apprehend the culprits so they will rat out on their masterminds.
Posible kaha na?
