THE Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), through the Bohol Employment and Placement Office, also the designated Public Employment Service Office (BEPO-PESO), will be conducting a face-to-face local and overseas Jobs Fair this coming July 28 and 29 at the Bohol Cultural Center as one of the highlights of the Sandugo Month Celebration.
With the on-going COVID-19 global pandemic and the province’s rising dengue cases, Gov. Aris C. Aumentado and Vice-Gov. Dionisio Victor Balite would like to make sure that everything is in place and the spread of these two deadly viruses under control to keep Boholano jobseekers safe.
BEPO-PESO, under the helm of Maria Vilma C. Yorong, is currently coordinating with the Department of Labor and Employment in Bohol (DOLE-Bohol), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Bohol Sandugo Foundation and other partner agencies on the policies and procedures to be followed during the two-day activity.
Jobs Fair is an employment facilitation strategy aimed to fast-track the meeting of jobseekers and employers/overseas recruitment agencies in one venue (or through zoom meetings, as was previously the case during the peak of the pandemic) at specific dates, to reduce cost, time and effort, particularly on the part of the applicants.
This is open to all unemployed, skilled and unskilled workers, fresh college graduates, graduates of training institutions, displaced workers and employees seeking advancement.
During Job Fairs, applicants apply for vacancies that match their qualifications and employers could interview and hire on the spot workers best qualified for specific job openings.
Purposely during this time of the pandemic, job fairs aim to reach out to the poor, unemployed and displaced workers, giving them the opportunity to regain employment despite the odds, but more so, by giving equal access and opportunity to all in getting another shot at uplifting their lives.
Job Fairs such as this could also be an opportunity for employers and recruitment agencies in their manpower sourcing and provide venues for immediate meeting of jobs and people for job matching.
Besides, job placement and recruitment activities, which are facilitated by the Provincial Government and its partner agencies at the proper venues, diminish the chances of illegal recruitment and provide jobseekers access to legitimate employers and recruitment agencies; thus, less labor disputes for the government to tidy up and lesser heartbreak for jobseekers and their families.
By providing more and better venues for legitimate employment and giving assistance to Boholanos land their dream jobs, Bohol has a better chance of boosting its economy, be more globally competitive and have more chances of garnering more opportunities in producing a highly-competent, better skilled and experienced work force; thus proving once again that the province’s true assets are indeed its people, the Boholanos.
Several local and overseas recruitment companies will be taking part in the activity.
Interested applicants are advised to dress appropriately and bring all their necessary documents to the designated venue during the designated dates and to behave properly during the course of the activity. (BEPO-PESO)
