A NEW diversion road leading to the seaport in Talibon town is set to be constructed, as officials from both national and local levels held a groundbreaking ceremony last Friday afternoon, July 15, 2022, at the said town.
The said project is intended to decongest the Poblacion area by providing another way of accessing the port area and other public facilities such as the Talibon Public Market. It is funded under the Convergence and Special Support Program – Sustainable Infrastructure Projects Alleviating Gaps (SIPAG), and is estimated to cost around Php100 million, which is sourced from the General Appropriations Act 2022 (GAA 2022).
For her message, Mayor Janette A. Garcia of Talibon expressed his appreciation for the project and assured every one of her continued support for projects that will benefit the residents of the said town.
Meanwhile, Second District Representative Maria Vanessa “Van-van” C. Aumentado, said that she is hoping for continued partnerships between agencies and LGUs, as they are all “partners for change”.
“I am for the continuity of what has been started,” the lady legislator added.
Governor Erico Aristotle “Aris” C. Aumentado pronounced that this is one way of preparing the town’s infrastructure towards achieving its cityhood status in the future. He also bared plans to expand Talibon’s road system and construct a new fish port.
“Ang atong katuyuan mao ang makatabang ta sa kalamboan diri sa atong Segundo Distrito ug sa tibuok lalawigan sa Bohol (Our aim is to help in the development of the Second District and the whole province of Bohol),” the local chief executive emphasized as he concluded his message.
Also, in attendance are Hon. Dave Evangelista, Vice Mayor of Talibon; officials and staff of DPWH-Bohol 2nd District Engineering Office headed by Engr. Vicente R. Valle, Jr., District Engineer; Hon. Panfilo Sumalinog, Barangay Captain of Barangay Poblacion; and Hon. Sabino Garcia, Barangay Captain of Barangay San Francisco. (PR)
