“KAMPILAN para sa Pagbibigay ng Pag-asa” MakaDiyos project is spearheaded by the Supreme Student Government of Dagohoy National High School lead by SSG President Gerson Auguis with the guidance of SSG Adviser, Mr. Marvin Bongato and the over-all support of the school principal, Rodrigo C. Buňao. “𝙆𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙣” is the term most commonly used for “sword” in Tagalog, Ilocano, and Visayan languages. Dagohoy National High School originated its name from the longest revolt in the country and used a similar sword, “Kampilan,” in the battle against the Spaniards. Thus, 𝙆𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙣 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗯𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗴-𝗮𝘀𝗮 is a Maka-Diyos project which signifies the courageous act of student leaders in Dagohoy NHS in spreading hope amidst pandemic typhoons and other challenges through Bible Verses. This promotes a culture of peace, respect, and love despite the multicultural population of the school/community.
Since the pandemic, student-leaders posted Bible verses and quotes of hope when most of the studentry was in quarantine situations. National Students Celebration (November 17, 2021) highlights its launching Bible Verse Sharing as one of the MakaDiyos activities stipulated in a memorandum of the Office of Undersecretary for Administration 00-1120-0152. But due to the ravage brought by Typhoon Odette (Rai), which significantly hit the signal and internet connection in Bohol. 𝚂𝚝𝚞𝚍𝚎𝚗𝚝 𝚕𝚎𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚛𝚜 spearheaded by the SSG President, Gerson Auguis 𝚝𝚘𝚐𝚎𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚂𝚂𝙶 𝚊𝚍𝚟𝚒𝚜𝚎𝚛, Dr. Marvin G. Partners, alumni student-leaders, and sponsors 𝗮𝗱𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲 in spreading hope through the project.
Bringing hope to people, in whatever form, can go a long way. From encouraging online to extending a helping hand or showing kindness in any way can help lift their spirits through the localized carved bible verses in Barangay Hall while getting their relief goods. This is when student leaders sprinkle kindness and bring hope to the lives of fellow students and the community. During the 𝘚𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, the turn-over of SSG leaders also spread hope in their respective barangays that every person in the community can read through a Visayan dialect that locals can easily understand.
Students are encouraged to put Bible verses in their respective homes. Have a selfie as proof. These selfies are used in the posters on the page posting “Bible Verse of the lives of fellow students and the community. Thanks to our parents, barangay officials, partners, sponsors, and internal and external stakeholders. There is HOPE. We can spread hope, and we can make a difference. #𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐒𝐚𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐛𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐲𝐍𝐠𝐏𝐚𝐠_𝐚𝐬𝐚

These are some of the few feedbacks illustrating the project’s tremendous impact on the stakeholders. Religious organizations like Parish Youth Ministry, Confraternity of Our Lady of Lourdes, Knights of the Altar, non-Catholic Organizations, and even our principal and supervisor appreciate the project of spreading hope through Bible verses.
Alumni also take part in the project. Post-Bible verses on social media and have selfies with their bible verses. This shows the significant impact of the project on all people who can see the post, and it brought the spreading of hope through God’s words. Moreover, the school principal and district supervisor, Dr. Juvy Ayenza, participate in the MakaDiyos project to spread hope.
The social media posting, mayors of respective classes with the class advisers, are being encouraged. In the aftermath of Typhoon Odette which signal and electricity were scarce, convening all mayors in the same barangay was done for the making of Bible verses to carve or paint in localized materials that were available after the typhoon, which are the slabs in a Bisayan language for the community to quickly understand and be given hope as its primary purpose whatever your religion. Barangay officials extend their support by providing dance-like snacks, paints, etc., to student-leaders who made carve and displayed them in their respective barangay halls. Also, the SSG officers showed the same output in the school as teachers, parents, and other stakeholders can read and be given hope through the word of God. That does provide not only hope but also a lovely landscape in the school. It served its purpose as well as beautified the area. When signal and electricity are back, everyone is encouraged to post Bible verses at home with selfies. Giving hope is nearer to the students. And to make pride and be shared with everyone, some are selected to be featured in the “Bible Verse of the Day” that instead of researching pictures on the internet, the students with their respective selfies are the ones being featured and shared in the official Facebook page-DepEd Tayo-Youth Formation Division-Dagohoy NHS.
Michael Bassey Johnson states, “Sometimes, it is not the money in your bank account that solves your problem, but the wisdom in your head.” This connotes that as long as the organization is eager to realize the project, money will come, and good people will come because, as Genesis 22:14 says, “The Lord will provide.” Moreover, Philippians 4:19 “My God will supply all your needs.” These are God’s promises that as long as our intentions are pure and our actions can benefit others, there is nothing to worry about. Each role, small or big is very significant in “Kampilan para sa Pagbibigay ng Pag-asa” MakaDiyos project.
Let’s Spread HOPE
