THE City Government of Tagbilaran, through the Tagbilaran City Primary Care Facility (TCPCF), gathered 208 Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) from the city’s 15 barangays for the Barangay Health Workers Summit 2026.

The summit was held on September 28, 2026, at JJ’s Seafood Village to recognize the BHWs’ contribution to bringing basic health services closer to communities.

The one-day activity served as a venue for recognition, capacity-building, fellowship and professional development.

It also reaffirmed the role of BHWs as frontline partners of the city’s health system.

City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc welcomed the participants and underscored the vital role of BHWs in delivering basic health services at the barangay level.

She noted that their regular presence in communities enables them to connect families with the health services and programs of the City Health Office.

The summit featured learning sessions on the roles and responsibilities of BHWs, the BHW Magna Carta, the accomplishments of the city’s BHW program, and the BHW ROCKS Development Program.

The city also recognized outstanding performance by awarding 34 Best Performing BHWs who demonstrated commitment and dedication in their respective communities.

BHW Federated Tagbilaran City President Hermeza Furnis addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of unity and sustained commitment among BHWs as they continue to serve residents in the barangays.

Mayor Jane Yap expressed appreciation for the BHWs’ continuing service and their contribution to ensuring that health programs and services reach families in the communities.

Mayor Yap also led the induction of the newly elected BHW Federation officers and the ceremonial distribution of BHW health kits.

Each kit contained essential monitoring equipment such as a blood pressure apparatus, stethoscope, forehead thermometer and pulse oximeter to support their community health work.

The 2026 summit concluded with a renewed commitment among the city’s BHWs to work together and continue delivering responsive and accessible health services closer to the people of Tagbilaran.
