Tagbilaran lights up Dagohoy and Buhion streets for safer nights

MAYOR Jane C. Yap led the switching on of newly installed street lights along Dagohoy Street in Barangays Manga and Tiptip and Buhion Street in Barangays San Isidro and Cabawan on August 15, 2026.

The activity was part of the city government’s continuing efforts to improve nighttime visibility and public safety.

The new lights provide brighter and more energy-efficient illumination along the two road sections.

They will benefit pedestrians, commuters, and motorists traveling through the areas at night.

“The City of Tagbilaran continues to install new street lights aimed at improving visibility and safety for both residents and visitors,” Yap said.

“We are installing modern and energy-efficient street lights that generate brighter and longer-lasting light,” she added.

Present during the lighting ceremony at Dagohoy Street were Vice Mayor Adam Jala, City Administrator Alvin Acuzar, and the barangay councils of Tiptip and Manga.

The councils were led by Punong Barangay Jeminador Lantape and Punong Barangay Maida Bantug, respectively.

The newly illuminated roads are expected to improve visibility, especially at night.

City officials said the improved lighting is also seen as a measure to help deter criminal activity and enhance the sense of security among residents and road users.

The street lighting project is part of the city government’s continuing program to expand and improve public lighting infrastructure across Tagbilaran.

Funding for the project comes from the city’s 20% Development Fund.
