THE Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), under the leadership of Governor Aris Aumentado, is exploring a digital platform that could strengthen real-time monitoring of fuel prices and other essential commodities across the province.
The meeting was held on August 13, 2026, at the Governor’s Office of the New Provincial Capitol, where developer Epifelward Niño Amora presented the proposed Fuel Watch App to representatives of the PGBh, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Department of Energy–Visayas Field Office (DOE-VFO).
The meeting was attended by DTI Provincial Director Vierna Ligan and DTI-Bohol Division Chief Jerome John Gabin; DOE-VFO Division Chief Jose Rey Maleza and Supervising Science Research Specialist Renelyn Estiya; Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte; Chief of Staff Atty. Filipina Asoy-Piollo; Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Handel Lagunay; and representatives from the Bohol Information and Communication Technology Office.
The Fuel Watch App is a free digital platform designed to provide updated price information sourced directly from retail gasoline outlets.
The system may initially focus on petroleum products, with discussions exploring its potential expansion to other commodities and broader price-monitoring functions.
As part of the proposed system, the DOE-VFO will map fuel stations and provide the corresponding list and coordinates.
All gasoline stations in the province may also be required to submit updated prices to ensure that the application contains timely and reliable retail price data.
Caberte noted the potential of the application to support the Provincial Price Coordination Council, particularly in providing up-to-date information that can strengthen price monitoring and coordination.
The meeting also explored a possible Memorandum of Agreement between the developer and PGBh, including the province’s capacity to host the application.
The initiative supports the PGBh Strategic Change Roadmap’s goal of building a smart, resilient, inclusive, and sustainable province through digital innovation and responsive governance, while advancing responsible stewardship of the Philippines’ first and only UNESCO Global Geopark. (PIMO/RJG)
