THE Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), led by Governor Aris Aumentado, opened the province’s first Nature-Based Solutions Roadshow to promote climate-resilient development.
The three-day event, titled NBS Roadshow Bohol 2026: Advancing Nature-Based Solutions for Climate and Disaster-Resilient Planning and Development, commenced on August 12 at the Capitol Ceremonial Hall.
PGBh organized the activity through the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO) and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
Furthermore, the Capitol partnered with the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners (PIEP) Bohol Chapter and the Philippine Red Cross to execute the program.
The roadshow convened municipal planning officers, disaster risk reduction officers, academe members, and local development stakeholders from across the island province.
PARADIGM SHIFT
Emphasizing the statement of purpose, Dr. Noelyn Dano highlighted the need for a paradigm shift in development planning to address emerging environmental challenges.
She explained that the roadshow seeks to enhance local government capabilities while generating tangible outcomes that advance long-term sustainable development.
Representing Gov. Aumentado, Chief of Staff Atty. Filipina Asoy-Piollo underscored the urgency of integrating healthy ecosystems into provincial planning processes to safeguard communities.
In addition, Atty. Asoy-Piollo reaffirmed Bohol’s commitment to protecting its natural heritage while pursuing development anchored on environmental stewardship and good governance.

The conference featured comprehensive presentations from field experts on ecosystem conservation, climate adaptation, sustainable land-use planning, and flood mitigation strategies.
Key speaker Dr. Dennis Garrity discussed actionable strategies for protecting vulnerable ecosystems amid escalating global climate challenges.
Meanwhile, Dr. Delia Catacutan presented nature-based solutions tailored for ridge-to-reef ecosystems to strengthen localized environmental resilience.
Other visiting experts shared insights on climate-resilient planning, governance frameworks, infrastructure development, and biodiversity conservation.

As a UNESCO Global Geopark, Bohol continues to champion initiatives that harmonize environmental conservation with sustainable socio-economic growth.
Consequently, the roadshow serves as an essential platform for knowledge-sharing and collaboration among stakeholders working toward resilient communities.
