TAGBILARAN City poultry raisers can now avail of the Egg Incubation Service lodged in the City Agriculture and Veterinary Office (CAVO). Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
The services would facilitate an ideal method for 100% egg development. It will also offer custom hatching services to Tagbilaranons who needs the service, securing the food requirement and livelihood of the Tagbilaranon’s poultry raisers.
The City Government’s livelihood program which was launched during the peak of the COVID-19 aimed in helping the marginalized women earn income during the pandemic.
City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA” Yap showed full support to the program and thanked those who were actively involved in laying out the foundation of the group.
“The City Government is grateful to the active involvement of the barangays. Their engagement has given us inspiration to find creative ways to do business. The partnerships we have forged with different organizations have provided an avenue of growth. This collaboration plays a pivotal role in our goal of would-be entrepreneurs to be self-sufficient and productive,” Yap said.
The livelihood project was jumpstarted by the assistance of the Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 7 thru then Regional Director and now DA Assistant Secretary for the Visayas Atty. Salvador Diputado. The DA turned over the native chickens to the Women Associations in Tagbilaran City in 2021.
Dr. Genette Egos of the City Agrivet Office conducted a series of training sessions among the recipients to capacitate the beneficiaries to take an entrepreneurial role. (Jeanette Busano)
