THE City Government of Tagbilaran once again distributed rice per house. The schedules were as follows: May 25 in barangays Cabawan, San Isidro, and Tiptip; May 26 in barangays Taloto, Ubujan, and Poblacion 1; May 27 in barangays Manga, Mansasa, and Poblacion 2; May 30 in barangays Bool and Dao; May 31 in barangays Dampas, Booy, Poblacion 3 and Cogon.
It should also be remembered that the City Government distributed rice after the devastation of Typhoon Odette. One sack of rice (25 kilograms) was given to every house in Tagbilaran City.
The typhoon which was considered to be the most destructive that ever hit Bohol brought severe damage to Central Visayas and Mindanao as thousands of families was evacuated. In response to the aftermath, Mayor Yap prioritized the welfare of the Tagbilaranons by giving relief assistance.
In Tagbilaran City alone, the strong winds and torrential rains brought by the typhoon toppled trees and electric poles which caused massive black-out. The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) even had to stop its rescue operations during the peak of the typhoon due to the roads’ zero visibility. The rescue operations were led by the composite team of the City PNP, CRRM, and City Fire. (Jeanette Busano)
