City Council bags 2025 Outstanding Governance Regional Award

THE Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) of Tagbilaran City, led by Vice Mayor Adam Relson Jala, has been recognized as a Regional Finalist, Rank 2 in the Component City Category of the 2025 Local Legislative Award during the 4th Quarter Continuing Local Legislative Education Program (CLLEP) and Year-End Assembly of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) held at JPark Resort, Lapu-Lapu City.

The award, conferred by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in partnership with the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) and the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines (VMLP), honors outstanding legislative bodies for exemplary performance, responsiveness, and innovation.

The award was received on behalf of Tagbilaran City by Vice Mayor Jala, City Councilors and SP Secretary Lynneth Mae Ibba.

Tagbilaran City’s SP earned the recognition for its significant accomplishments in crafting local policies that have strengthened socio-economic growth, improved environmental management, and advanced the city’s overall governance agenda.

The council’s legislative efforts were lauded for effectively supporting the city’s development priorities and enhancing the quality of life of Tagbilaranons.

Vice Mayor Adam Jala expressed gratitude to the DILG, PCL, and VMLP for the recognition, emphasizing that the honor reflects the hard work and unity of the entire legislative body.

He added that the SP remains committed to producing policies that are progressive, people-focused, and aligned with the city’s vision under the leadership of Mayor Jane Yap.

Mayor Yap, in a separate statement, congratulated the City Council and highlighted the award as a testament to Tagbilaran’s dedication to strong, transparent, and responsive governance.

She commended the legislators for their continuous efforts to craft ordinances and programs that uplift communities and sustain the city’s momentum for growth.

The Local Legislative Award is given every three years to recognize local councils that demonstrate excellence in lawmaking, development planning, and support for effective local governance—an achievement that further cements Tagbilaran City’s reputation as a model of effective leadership in Central Visayas.
