TAGBILARAN City continues to solidify its position as a leader in public health after receiving three prestigious awards during the 2025 Public Health Summit and Universal Health Care Summit held on November 21, 2025, at the Summit Galleria Hotel in Cebu City.

City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc, Mr. Robin Culpa and Ms. Ruth Cecilia del Prado of the Tagbilaran City Primary Care Facility (TCFCF) and Mr. Emmanuel Supremo of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) personally received the awards on behalf of the city.

The recognition was conferred by the Department of Health – Central Visayas Center for Health Development, honoring the city’s outstanding initiatives in advancing the health and well-being of its residents.

Tagbilaran City received the Award for Good Practices in Health for its flagship program, the Fit 4 Life Club—a pioneering health initiative originally launched on December 14, 2017, by then Mayor and now First District Congressman John Geesnell “Baba” Yap II, and further strengthened and expanded under the administration of Mayor Jane Yap.

The program supports hypertensive and diabetic residents through lifestyle modification, continuous provision of maintenance medicines, regular consultations, and sustained health education activities.

The city also earned the ARMORED(Active in Risk Management, Outstanding in Risk Reduction in Emergencies and Disasters) award recognizing its strong preparedness mechanisms, efficient emergency response systems, and well-coordinated community-based health efforts across the 15 barangays.

Another award is the Most Improved for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (DRRM-H).

Mayor Jane Yap lauded the dedication of the city’s health frontliners and emphasized the importance of collective action in improving community health.

“These awards reflect the hard work of our doctors, nurses, BNS, BHWs, and the entire TCPCF family. Health is a shared responsibility, and Tagbilaran City will continue investing in programs that protect and uplift the well-being of every Tagbilaranon,” the Mayor said.

City officials likewise extended their gratitude to the men and women of the Tagbilaran City Primary Care Facility, as well as the Barangay Nutrition Scholars and Barangay Health Workers, whose dedication and service continue to make Tagbilaran a model of accessible, responsive, and inclusive public health care.

These recognitions mark another milestone in the city’s unwavering commitment to building a healthier, more resilient, and empowered Tagbilaran.
