THE City Government of Tagbilaran joined the nationwide observance of Elderly Filipino Week from October 1 to 7, 2025, honoring the city’s senior citizens for their invaluable contributions to the community under the theme “Embracing Age: Living a Life with Dignity and Purpose”.
The week-long celebration, spearheaded by the Office of the Senior Citizens’ Affairs (OSCA), featured a series of activities aimed at promoting the welfare, inclusion, and well-being of the elderly.
There were engaging events throughout the week such as board games, visitation of the sick, Barangay Chapter Day, and UNILAB Time.
The celebration culminated on October 7, 2025, at the Saulog Gym, highlighted by a Thanksgiving Mass, fellowship lunch, and oathtaking of newly elected officers of the Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines (FSCAP) – Tagbilaran City Chapter.
The event brought together senior citizens from all 15 barangays for a day of recognition, camaraderie, and thanksgiving.
Vice Mayor Adam Relson Jala officiated the oath taking of officers and also represented City Mayor Jane Yap during the activity.
In her message, Mayor Jane Yap expressed deep gratitude to the elderly for being the city’s “true pillars of wisdom and compassion,” affirming the local government’s continuing commitment to programs that uphold their welfare. “The City Government will always stand by our senior citizens to ensure that they continue to live a life filled with dignity, purpose, and love,” Mayor Yap said.
Engr. Mauro O. Mejares Jr., President of FSCAP Tagbilaran City, and OSCA Head Ester Budlong, led the recognition of participants, while OSCA Administrator Evelina Leyble delivered the closing remarks.
