Vice-Guv Baja bares accomplishments

BAJA

VICE-Gov. Tita V. Baja has made public the accomplishments of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan under her watch, specifically from July 18, 2024 to June 30, 2025 after the demise of then Vice Gov. Dionisio Victor Balite on July 17, 2024.

Aside from presiding the regular sessions of the provincial board, Baja also acted as the governor while Gov. Aris Aumentado is out of town for official engagements.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has produced a total of 1,324 approved Resolutions and 35 Ordinances during the said period, based on the data provided by the SP secretariat office led by Dr. Bonifacio Quirog, PhD.

The SP held a total of 46 sessions, including the joint session with SP Cebu in Cebu city.

In those sessions, the SP’s various committees held a total of 178 meetings. It also counts on seven (7) budget hearings and 13 public hearings. A total of 157 committee reports were rendered as result of those committee meetings, based on the data provided by committee secretariat led by Dave Mar.

The review committee (reviews municipal ordinances) chaired by PCL president and now vice-gov-elect Nick Besas came out with a total of 29 reports.

The agriculture committee came in next with a total of 14 committee reports; NGOs Ps committee, 12 (reports); and government properties committee, 10 (reports). The rest are in single digits.

Baja expressed her appreciation and gratitude to her colleagues in the legislative chamber and her staff under her watch for their unwavering and making their efforts for the general welfare of the Boholanos.

Baja, who emerged as the number one board member of 3rd district, and probably the senior BM once again, pins high hopes for the next SP for 2025-2028 under the headship of VG-elect Besas to be fruitful and responsible for the needs of the people.

Baja has served three consecutive terms (9 years) as municipal councilor and three terms as municipal mayor of Garcia-Hernandez prior to her stint at the SP.  (rvo)
