THE City Government of Tagbilaran, through the City Human Resource Management and Development Office, successfully conducted a two-day Data Analytics Training on June 9–10, 2025 at JJ’s Seafood Village, Tagbilaran City.
The training was designed for city employees who handle data in their respective offices, with the aim of equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills in data analytics to support data-driven decision-making and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of government services.
The training featured a comprehensive lineup of modules facilitated by experts Ms. Marjoie Narca and Ms. Maria Isabel Abucejo, both from Holy Name University.
Topics included Introduction to Data Science and Analytics, Data Maturity Assessment and Planning, Data Mapping and Quality Assessment, Data Processing and Visualization, Security Best Practices and Incident Response, and Data Analytics for Local Government Units.
Each session combined conceptual discussions with hands-on workshops, allowing participants to directly apply what they learned through real-world LGU scenarios, data quality assessments, and the development of data analytics roadmaps tailored to their offices.
Mayor Jane Yap, in a statement, underscored the role of analytics in transforming public service.
“In today’s digital age, our ability to use data wisely defines how effective we are as public servants. Through this training, we are empowering our workforce with the tools needed to deliver services that are not only timely, but truly responsive to the needs of our people,” Mayor Yap said.
Participants also received an orientation on the OCDex Project, a broader initiative to modernize data management and analytics practices in local government units.
This training reflects the City Government of Tagbilaran’s commitment to continuous learning and innovation, and to fostering a culture of evidence-based governance across all levels of public service.
