Dan Lim camp wants digital election glitch explanation

LABARIA

THE camp of gubernatorial candidate Atty. Dan Neri Lim seeks more answers in what they described as discrepancies in the machine and canvass count in the post-election stage.

Lim and company wanted the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to explain to the public the said discrepancies in data results.

It is said that anything may happen, like glitch, hacking and system manipulation in automated election system. One of these discrepancies is between the machine count and canvass count. Another are the ballot misreading due to print alignment or shading errors and transmission failure/corrupted files.

Lawyer Kurt Bungabong, one of Lim’s trusted counsels, bared that in barangay Totolan clustered precinct, Dauis town, the number of registered voters was only 891. But as of May 13, 2025, the number of valid ballots cast soar to 942, higher than the actual votes cast (813 votes) and the number of registered voters of 89.

Bungabong lamented, “Subsequently, the Comelec corrected the data. How can it be explained?”

Lim said they need explanation from Comelec to preserve the integrity of the electoral process, saying the media has big role in disseminating these so as to reform the election process.

PROVINCIAL VOTE CANVASS DELAYED

Not a ‘technical anomaly,’ but what Bohol provincial election supervisor Atty. Eliseo Labaria described as ‘human glitch’ that apparently caused delay in the canvassing of votes in the provincial level on Tuesday.

Said ‘human glitch’ has slowed down the proclamation of the elected governor, vice-governor, congressman and provincial board members in the third district. But the proclamation of the first and second district winners in congressman and board members, was done in the morning on Tuesday.

The transmission of election returns from barangay Danao, Valencia, Bohol was caused by alleged turning off of the machine even before the returns were effectively transmitted to the provincial canvassing.

If not of this (human glitch), the proclamation of governor-elect Aris Aumentado, vice-governor Nick Besas and congresswoman Alexie B. Tutor and the four board members-elect could have been done early in the Tuesday morning, Labaria said.

The Valencia ‘human glitch’ caused the provincial canvass to wait for at around 3 o’clock in the afternoon, then moved to 6 o’clock early evening and the winners one-by-one were declared at around 7 o’clock in the evening.

Labaria told media interview that the conduct of the 2025 elections was relatively peaceful and received no report of untoward incidents. But the Comelec received one election protest and sent to the Manila for action. He did not elaborate.

A certain person was shot dead and his companion was wounded in a shooting incident in Tubigon town in barangay Guiwanon, Tubigon town on Monday night at past 8 o’clock, May 12 in a compound of mayoral winner Marlon Amila.

The fatality was identified as Daniel Canice, a.ka. “Dodong,” a resident of Barangay Los Angeles in Ubay town who died from gunshots in some parts of his body.

His companion, who was not named by the police, a resident of said barangay, sustained injury. He was brought to the Tubigon Community Hospital for medical attention, the report said. (rvo)
