MAY the best team win! May the best candidates win!
Tomorrow, May 12, a Monday, is the scheduled midterm election for 12 senators throughout the entire country, a governor, vice-governor, and four members of the Provincial Board of all provinces, and a municipal mayor, vice-mayor and eight municipal councilors of all towns.
And, tomorrow, the whole Filipino citizenry is, once again, privileged by law to select the candidates to man the different political positions in the country for the next three years. And, once elected, he is always to be considered as the best among the candidates in that same political position.
There could be no other way of calling the winner. The Filipino electorates have aleady spoken. For how can one be considered as the best if he was not elected in an election?
How the election was won will, in most cases, determine the type of service the winner will perform to his electorates. If honestly won, a genuine and sincere delivey of services to the people will definitely ensue. This is Short Cuts’ honest contention.
But what if the same victory was associated with vote buying? Is genuine and sincere delivery of services expected from the winner?
Definitely NOT! For what reason?
It is expected that “Ang iyang unahon mao ang pagbawi una sa iyang nagasto sa miaging eleksyon”.
So, what type of service can be expected from this winner?
”Your answer is as good as mine” is Short Cuts’ direct testimony!
Therefore, in tomorrow’s electoral process, every electorate is advised to use his conscience and must always uphold the dignity of his vote.
Distance yourself from the sounds of VOTE BUYING. That is if you are not yet accustomed to it. If in the opposite, just dance with the music. Receive the amount but vote according to the dictates of your heart.
Anyway, you did not ask for it. It was given.
