THE Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) of Tagbilaran City recorded a significant 25% increase in the number of Mayor’s permits issued during this year’s Business One-Stop-Shop (BOSS) compared to 2024.
The initiative, which ran from January 2 to 20, 2025, streamlined the processing of business registrations both online and onsite.
From 4,157 permits issued in 2024, the total soared to 5,204 permits issued during the same period this 2025, underscoring the city’s thriving business environment and streamlined processing initiatives.
Atty. Colleen Rose Guantero, BPLO Head, attributed the substantial increase to the city government’s continuous improvements in service delivery, particularly through the enhanced BOSS platform and intensified inspection of business establishments undertaken by BPLO.
Furthermore, BPLO also processed 5,633 business registrations during the BOSS period, representing a 9% increase from the 5,180 registrations completed in the same period in 2024.
Online applications also increased by 29% which shows the heightened interest of business owners to transition to digital platforms.
Mayor Jane Yap celebrated the milestone, emphasizing the importance of the business sector in driving the city’s economic growth.
She said, “The remarkable 25% increase in Mayor’s Permits issued this year is a strong indicator of investor confidence and the growing dynamism of our local economy. It reflects the success of our digitalization efforts and the hard work of the BPLO team in ensuring a seamless and efficient business registration process.”.
The Business One-Stop-Shop (BOSS) has become a vital tool for the city government, offering a convenient and accessible way for business owners to comply with registration requirements.
By integrating digital solutions and simplifying procedures, Tagbilaran City continues to foster a business-friendly environment that supports local entrepreneurs and attracts new investments.
With this year’s achievements, the city government reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining economic growth and enhancing public services to ensure Tagbilaran remains a hub of innovation and prosperity.
