IN A significant step toward promoting accessible education, scholars under the Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) at Tagbilaran City College (TCC) received their much-awaited educational subsidy of ₱7,500 per semester.
The distribution took place on January 14, 2025 at the City Mayor’s Office and served as a testament to the city government’s commitment to ensuring that no deserving student is left behind due to financial challenges.
Tagbilaran City College President Dr. Del Mark Cagatin announced that this release is for the first batch of beneficiaries, with additional disbursements scheduled in the coming months.
He emphasized the program’s importance in uplifting poor but deserving students, providing them with the financial support needed to continue their academic pursuits.
Mayor Jane Yap led the initiative and expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the Tulong Dunong Program.
She highlighted the program’s transformative impact on the lives of students and their families, emphasizing that education remains one of the city government’s top priorities.
“The Tulong Dunong Program ensures that every deserving student has the opportunity to pursue his dreams, regardless of their financial situation.
We are committed to creating opportunities for the youth of Tagbilaran to succeed,” Mayor Yap stated.
The event was met with gratitude and excitement from the scholars, many of whom shared how the subsidy would help them cover essential expenses such as tuition, school supplies, and other academic needs.
The assistance comes as a timely boost for students striving to overcome the challenges of pursuing higher education amidst economic difficulties.
The Tulong Dunong Program, which is a collaboration between the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and local government units, continues to serve as a lifeline for thousands of Filipino students.
